15-years of operation

Fifteen years ago, the owners Freyr and Silja went on their first whale-watching trip on Viktor EA, a 15-ton oak boat built in Seyðisfjörður in 1971. The engine on that boat was from 1976. It had a passenger permit for 15 people and was sold in 2011. Is there any connection to them in the year the engine and boat were made? The company now operates four boats: - Draumur EA, a 22-ton oak boat built in Hafnarfjörður in 1979. Purchased in 2011 with a passenger permit for 42. - Máni EA, a 50-ton oak boat built in Stykkishólmur in 1977. Purchased in 2013 with a passenger permit for 60. - Dögun EA, a 13-meter RIB boat built by Ring Powercraft in England in 2017. Passenger permit for 12. - Rökkur EA, a 13-meter RIB boat built by Ring Powercraft in England in 2024. Passenger permit for 12. It finally went afloat today. Ticket sales and reception at Hafnarbraut 22. Storage and workshop at Sandskeið. The boats are at the floating dock in Martröð, and the future project Ísstöðin at the harbor area (Dalvík waterfront concept) – more on that later. Nearly 200,000 people have gone with us to see the diverse wildlife and beautiful landscape of Eyjafjörður. Humpback whales have been spotted on 96-99% of trips since 2011. Today, there are four employees year-round and 10 in the summer. Over 60 people have worked at Arctic Sea Tours. Customers have remained loyal to us. We had guides this summer who have come annually since 2009, and large groups have been with us since 2013. Two groups series have been with us since 2016. People from Denmark have been coming annually for 9 years, and many have come twice or more. First to offer whale watching tours all year round outside Reykjavík in 2014. All passengers have been in flotation coveralls since 2017. Defibrillators have been on boats since 2016. We were the first to have suspension seats for passengers in RIB boats in 2017. It's a challenging but fun operation and the best job in the world in good weather.
